What Is Lip Blushing?

This is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure that consists of depositing pigment into the lips with a pen-like rotary machine. Technique is perfect for clients looking to achieve the appearance of a fuller, more defined, asymmetrical lip while also enhancing its color. Once healed the colors are soft, natural such as that of a mild lip tint. Color is customized to each client’s needs and desires. This semi permanent procedure is done in a series of sessions in order to achieve the perfect color. Follow up appointments should be scheduled 8-10 weeks after the first session for optimum results. Results can last anywhere from 2 – 5 years depending on pigments used, lifestyle, skincare, and upkeep.

Who Is It For?

Anyone who is looking to enhance or even out their natural color of the lip. Also a great option for clients who are looking for dramatic colors (no more lipstick) and symmetry. You are not a good candidate if you experience:

  • Allergies to lidocaine, epinephrine, pigment, etc.
  • History of Keloid scarring.
  • Clients taking Accutane, steroids, antibiotics, or blood thinners.
  • History of Cold Sores (*antiviral medication MUST be prior to the procedures.)
  • Clients with fresh chemical peel,  laser treatments, or fillers that are less than 4 weeks.
  • Active skin cancer around the treatment areas.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women.
  • Hemophiliac
  • Skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, or any rashes/blisters around the treatment area.
  • Glaucoma
  • Diabetes
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure

What To Expect After

  • Temporary swelling is a normal part of the Lip Blush procedure and should be expected. It can be minimal to moderate, and usually goes down in just a few hours, or by the second day. Minor, temporary bruising can also occur.
  • The treated area will appear darker and bold the day after treatment due to the oxidation process that occurs during healing. As the area continues to heal, a softer and more natural result will be revealed underneath.

  • If the area is kept clean and healing ointment is applied correctly, a light pigment fil (not a heavy scab) will appear. Lips will become dry as they heal, so apply ointment liberally as needed.

  • As the pigment film starts to flake off, DO NOT pick scratch, or pull off any of the areas that are peeling. Choosing to pick at flaking & peeling areas can pull out healing pigment, and results in spots left without any pigment or in some cases, scarring.

  • Please note that within the first 6-8 weeks, your lip pigment may appear lighter than expected. It may seem like the pigment has been lost: please be advised that in some cases, as the skin heals and regenerates, the fresh layer of skin can hide the new pigment completely. You must allow the full healing time of the 6-8 weeks to see the true color and results
